Closed Campus & Student Parking

All MISD high schools are “closed campuses” meaning that students are not allowed to come and go freely during the day. More students are leaving during the day to get lunch. This is not allowed. Students that leave campus must check out through their house office with parent permission. Students that park in the student parking lot MUST be a licensed driver with insurance in their name, and have a valid MHS parking sticker.

Parent Pick-up/drop-off

Parents may only pick up and drop off students in the drive that leads to the main entrance (turn in by our marquee). Do not pull into the parking lots off of Graves street. Those lanes are for the child care pick-up/drop-off and for the buses.

Immunizations

It is the responsibility of  parents to make sure that their student’s immunization record is up to date in the MHS clinic for students to be compliant and remain in school. Seniors need to make sure they are in compliance with what their prospective colleges might require. For questions about your child’s immunizations, contact us at MHS CLINIC 469-302-5730

Cosmetology

Cosmetology students are taking clients from the community.  This is great way to support one of our CTE classes.  Please call 469-302-5775 to make an appointment.

Dear Lion Families,

Good things are happening at MHS! We have band and orchestra students headed to Austin to perform for the Texas Music Educators Association. This is an extremely high honor and only a few students in the state are afforded this opportunity.  Our swim, dive, and wrestling teams are currently at regional competitions and we are confident that some of them will find their way to the state competition.

February 2, 2024

Dear Lion Families,

Beginning next Thursday, counselors will be meeting with students during social studies classes to collect course selection cards for next year. The specific dates for each grade level are listed below. Course cards require a parent signature. Please review your child’s selections carefully. Be sure your child lists at least two electives they are genuinely interested in. We do all we can to honor students’ first choice selections, but it is not always possible to do so. It is not uncommon for classes not to “make” or for conflicts to arise. We are fortunate in McKinney to have a wide-variety of courses available, so it should be easy for students to find alternate courses they would enjoy if their first choice is not possible. You can find a comprehensive list of all courses offered in MISD in our Academic Planning Guide (APG).

Course card due dates:

9th grade – Feb 19 – 21

For more specific information we encourage you to visit the Course Registration Information page on the counselor’s tab on the MHS website.

Some courses require applications. Apply with this selective program link. The deadline for applications to selective programs is 2/23. Health Science applications are due by 2/9 at 2:45 pm. Dual credit permission forms and the Dual Credit Goggle From are due Feb. 29.

New alpha alignment

Due to the retirement of one of our APs, students in Alpha I-Mc to other house offices were reassigned. Here is a link to the new House Office Assignments. Mrs. Howard will continue to help understand the scheduling process.
