Enrollment/Registration

School Attendance Zones

Find out what school your student is currently zoned for based on your address, with our School Locator. School zone boundaries can change prior to the start of a new school year. If this happens, the School Locator will be updated. If your home is very new, it may not be found on the locator. The School Locator software updates the map in June/July each summer.

Returning Student  Registration

Students who are currently enrolled at any MISD campus, including Lawson Early Childhood center, will receive a SnapCode in June. This unique code will be required to complete the student registration for the upcoming school year. Be watching your email for your code to get your student registered.  Emails will be sent to the address we have on file for the guardian listed as primary contact. You will need an updated Proof of Residence to complete your registration.

** Note that if you have multiple students, you may receive their snapcodes on different days, as they are sent out in batches.

New Student and Kindergarten Registration

All registration for McKinney ISD is online!  You do not need to visit the campus in person to register.

Students must turn 5 years old ON or BEFORE September 1 of the year they will begin school.

Start the Registration Process

Here are some reminders as you gather your documentation to upload:

  • You will need to provide:  birth certificate; parent photo ID;  updated immunization record;  proof of residence;  social security card (optional)
  • Before submitting your online application, please make sure that you entered your child’s name just as it’s written on the birth certificate (include middle name/s, double last names, do not add letters, apostrophes or hyphens, etc.), and verify his/her birthdate is correct and that it’s written in the right format: month/day/year.
  • When collecting your proof of residency, make sure the utility bill (electric, water) has a service date in this month or the previous month. Cable bills, internet bills, cell phone bills, home insurance, mortgage statements, personal bills, etc., are not valid forms of proof of residency. Lease agreements and closing paperwork are only accepted for families that have been residing at their current address for less than a month. If you have been living at the same home address for over a month, you cannot present a lease or closing paperwork as your proof of residency.  All applications that include a lease or closing paperwork will be required to submit a utility bill after the first month of closing or lease beginning.
  • Students who are not up to date on his/her vaccinations will not be able to enroll in school. District health services staff will review immunization records prior to your registration being processed.
