Attendance & Absences

Student Attendance

School attendance is a priority at Frazier Elementary. In order for an absence to be excused, parent notes must be submitted to the campus within 3 days of the absence. If a parent note is received after 3 days of the student returning to school, the note will be kept on file to document absences; however, it will not be coded in our system.  If we do not hear from you about the absence, it is automatically unexcused.

MISD allows 8 parent notes to excuse absences per year. After that, they are kept on file but the absence is coded as “unexcused”.

Doctor’s notes will be accepted at any time to excuse an absence.

Attendance Reporting

Please do not call the school to report an absence. Instead, send any parent or healthcare note to the Frazier front office directly, Frazier absence reporting email.  Emails should go to:   [email protected].

** Please note that this email is for absence reporting only, and no replies will be sent.  In addition, you may still get an automated phone call letting you know that your student was not at school that day.  Excused absences will be entered into our system as quickly as possible.

The district sends out truancy warning letters at 3 and 7 unexcused absences. If your child reaches 10 unexcused absences in a 6-month period, the district may file truancy charges in a court of law.
