MONDAY, APRIL 8th – SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION

Sunday, March 31, 2024

Monday, April 8th Solar Eclipse Information

On April 8, 2024, MHS students will go outside with their 7th period teachers to view the totality of the solar eclipse. The district will provide the glasses required for viewing the eclipse safely. On that day, we WILL NOT go to 6th period. Students will report directly from 5th period (or lunch) to their 7th period class. The  campus will be closed to all visitors from 12:45 until 2:15. We ask that parents that pick-up students after school not arrive until after 2:15. This parking lot entrances from Graves and Wilson Creek will be closed during that time. Any seniors that have early release during 6th or 7th period must exit the building immediately following 5th period.

We will accept parent notes for students who stay home to view the event with their families, however, the absence will count toward the 90% attendance law. Students may opt out of viewing the eclipse while at school, but parent permission is required. If you would like to opt your student out of viewing the eclipse while at school please fill out our MHS Solar Eclipse Opt Out Form. Please be sure that this form is completed no later than 4 pm on April 4.
