Cap Decoration Guidelines

Congratulations! Your senior year will be full of fun, exciting events and we want to help you plan for these memorable moments. Below you will find a list of guidelines for decorating the senior graduate cap for graduation.  It is an option in McKinney ISD for seniors to decorate their caps with the local college, junior college, university, branch of military, or trade school the student plans to attend following graduation from McKinney ISD. This is not a requirement; decorating the graduate cap is completely optional.

GENERAL GRADUATE CAP DECORATING INFORMATION

All Cap/Gown Units must be purchased from Jostens.com (info about purchase will be sent in the fall).

ALL Cap Decorations must lay flat on the cap (mortarboard):

  • Only Local/Junior College, University, Branch of Military, and Trade School letters/logos/mascots are allowed
  • No quotes, phrases, or full sentences allowed
  • All décor must be placed on the TOP of the Cap (décor not allowed on front, sides, or back)
  • No raised flowers (flat is fine)
  • No objects (large or small)
  • Nothing dangling from any side of the cap (chains, beads, yarn, string, etc.)

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

***Please note a  MBHS Staff member Line Leader will check your cap at graduation to make sure that all cap decorations meet campus guidelines. Any student who does not adhere to the posted guidelines above will be asked to remove the décor, and if that is not possible, will be asked to wear a cap provided by Jostens.***

Please swing by Office C202 if you have any questions or concerns regarding your graduate cap décor.
