Choir
Directed by John Nurge
The Evans Middle School Choir department has a long history of excellence, with a focus on citizenship as well as music. Since the school’s opening, our program has received numerous accolades from competitions, faculty, and most importantly, the community. Our goal is for each student to find a place where their uniqueness fits into the complexity of large ensemble singing, and existence – all while learning to sing music that is both enjoyable and can connect to deeper meanings. Music is a universal language that can surpass all manner of obstacles, and we hope to share that with as many students as possible.
Orchestra
Directed by Justyn Stine
Orchestra’s goal is to give every student the opportunity to better themselves through musical development, critical thinking, and ensemble membership. We firmly believe that all students are welcome in Orchestra and are a valuable part of exploring music that spans from the traditional classics to the music of today.
Theatre
Directed by Jeni Eberhard
Theatre classes at Evans are open to any 7th and 8th graders. We have Theatre 1 as a starting point from there they can continue their theatre education with Theatre 2 the next year. Students also have the opportunity to audition for the Advanced Theatre class after they complete Theatre 1. Evans also offers a Technical Theatre Design class open to 7th and 8th graders where they will learn all aspects of backstage and how to design for set, props, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, and publicity. This class is by application and teacher recommendation only and space is limited. The Evans Theatre department holds auditions for two mainstage productions that are open to ANY Evans student. Typically there is a musical in the Fall and our One Act Play competition entry in the Spring. We also host a school-wide talent show, Evans Got Talent, in the spring. Join the theatre department and grow in confidence and connection with others!
