Dear Panther Families,

It was great to see our Panthers back at school this week! We are looking forward to an exciting 4th quarter with our first-ever soccer team, our school dance (April 21), Academic Excellence Awards (May 4), the end of the year Panther celebration (May 19) the 8th-grade celebration (May 23), and much, much, more! Please visit our new website to see the dates and times for our spring events.

As we move into the last quarter we have noticed many students have lost their laptop chargers. For your convenience, we have the information you need if you need to replace them. The school does not provide replacement chargers, but they can be purchased on Amazon or from other stores. Details you will need and links are provided below to help:

Is your charger lost or broken?

  • If your cube is still good, you can buy a replacement cord:
    • USB C to USB C charging cable cord compatible with MacBook Air 13 inch 2020

Parent Pick-Up Policy

If a parent needs to pick up their child from the front office, the parent needs to arrive no later than 3:15 p.m. Due to students being in athletics and other locations, it is often difficult to locate and bring the student to the front office in a timely manner.

Travel Opportunity

Your student is invited to join us on a couple of upcoming educational travel experiences to London & Paris or to Italy & Greece in the Summer of 2024! When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on these adventures.

Come hear all the details, including the itineraries, activities, academic opportunities, the cost of the trips, and EF’s risk-free enrollment period at our informational meetings on March 29th. The meetings will take place in the Evans Library – the London and Paris tour at 6 pm and the Italy and Greece at 7 pm. You’re welcome to attend both.

Please click here to register for one or both meetings ASAP to save your seat:

There are limited spots on these trips, so we would love to have you attend one or both of these meetings to learn more about these exciting opportunities!

Student Council School Dance April 21, Information

Evans Student Council is going to be sponsoring a Spring Dance. We are looking forward to students being able to have a dance again. Below is the information parents and students will need to plan.

Dance dress code:

This will NOT be a formal dance, but we know that students will want to dress up a little and take pictures. As for the dress code, it will remain the same with the exception of allowing spaghetti straps for spring dresses. Per our usual dress code, dresses should be fingertip length and not low cut. Midriffs must also be covered.

Maintaining the privilege of participating in the dance:

In order to be able to purchase a ticket for and attend the dance, students must

  1. Have ZERO discipline referrals between Feb. 21 and the time of the dance.

  2. Be passing ALL classes by the time tickets go on sale. Tickets will be sold the week of the dance. Ticket prices TBD (depending on the cost of decorations, DJ, snacks, etc.).

Dance details:

6th Grade will be from 4:30-6:00

7th/8th Grade will be from 7:00-8:30

Please contact Camille Williams with questions.

From the Nurse

All 6th-grade students require a Tetanus booster vaccine and a meningococcal vaccine to enter 7th grade. This is a mandatory requirement in the state of Texas. Please submit proof of vaccinations to the nurse before the end of this school year 05/25/2023.

Please contact the nurse if you have any questions. [email protected]

Absence Notes

When a student has a doctor’s note or is absent, please complete Attendance and Tardy From Parents Google Form. Students may also deliver doctor/absent notes to the front office.

District Communication

Please review this important public safety alert from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

https://www.mckinneyisd.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Parent-Flyer.pdf

This is a serious issue that is impacting schools and communities across the Nation, and here in Collin County.  Please have dialogue with your children about the dangers of Fentanyl and other drugs or medications that could be laced with Fentanyl.

Laptop Fees

Please pay for the 22-23 annual laptop ASAP ($75.00/yr. or $37.50 for Free & Reduced). Check your child’s HAC to view fees.  Each week laptops are being turned in with broken/cracked screens.  Those that have paid their annual laptop fee are only charged $50.00 for the damage if 1st incident, $125.00 for 2nd  or more incidents.  If the annual fee has NOT been paid than any incident is charged the full cost of the repair, for a broken screen is $450.00.

Pay w/cc online at www.payschoolscentral.com or bring Check (made out to Evans MS) or Cash to the front office.
