Communities In Schools (CIS) is a non-profit organization committed to helping students stay in school, achieve academically and graduate to become productive and contributing members of our communities. CIS is part of the largest stay-in-school network in the nation, and the leading program of its kind.

After assessing students’ needs in and out of school, CIS staff members develop individualized plans and group activities to address those needs. CIS is committed to making a difference — one child at a time.

The six components of all CIS program services are:

Supportive Guidance
Health and Human Services
Parental and Family Involvement
Enrichment
Educational Enhancement

Some of the services that CIS provides include:

Tutoring and homework assistance
Mentoring
Support groups
Life skills training
Coordination with social services
Clothes closet
Home visits
Parent classes
Career awareness and readiness
College prep
Recreational and Cultural Activities
Since 1985, Communities In Schools Dallas Region has provided year-round, on-campus academic and social support services to over 112,000 children in grades pre-K through 12 across the Dallas region.  CISDR’s staffs of dedicated professionals are experts in providing comprehensive case-managed services and bringing community resources into schools to help students. CISDR currently provides services to students in 65 schools in ten school districts across the Dallas region.
