Extended Spring Break Resources

Monday, March 16, 2020

March 16. 2020

Burks Families,

As you already know, McKinney ISD has made the decision to extend spring break for another week. Therefore, all McKinney ISD schools will be closed March 16-20, 2020. This includes all district and extracurricular programs, as well as, Club 360.

Due to this extended District closing, McKinney ISD will be using our two bad weather days which were scheduled for April 10th and April 27th. We will be attending school on these days.

We know having the kids at home this week will be challenging so we wanted to give you a few ideas in case you wanted them to have some school activities to occupy their time. Mrs. Hinkebein has incredible resources available through our Learning Commons which you can find at:

https://sites.google.com/mckinneyisd.net/burks-elementrary-learning-com/extended-spring-break-resources

Another great resource to use is the Learning Commons Facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/burkseagleslearningcommons/

The students are familiar with these resources and Mrs. Hinkebein is providing some great virtual activities to use that will keep students engaged.

These are optional resources to use this week if you are looking for something for the kids to do at home. Your child can also practice reading while at home, writing a journal about their day and practicing math facts. If you would like more ideas just ask your teachers and they would be happy to send ideas.

McKinney ISD is following updates and staying in close contact with city, state, and health officials. All MISD updates will be posted online here: https://www.mckinneyisd.net/health-services-wellness/coronavirus-covid-19/.

MISD will also be providing Grab & Go meals Monday-Friday, March 16-20, 2020, for any MISD student. The meals will be passed out at the following campuses: Webb, Finch, McNeil, and Slaughter.   Meals will be handed out in the carpool lanes of these schools.  Breakfast will be available from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Feel free to email Al Conley [email protected] or Patricia Gerig [email protected] with specific questions about the extended break. We hope you are staying healthy and we can’t wait to have everybody back on campus.

Sincerely,

Burks Staff
