Solar Eclipse Permission Form
During the school day on April 8, our teachers will bring students outside to witness the total solar eclipse. Grown-ups wanting their child to participate must complete and return the PERMISSION FORM (English Version) or (forma en español) to their 5th period teacher by April 3. Students received a paper copy in class today (Friday, March 28). Please ask to see it. It is somewhere in their bag :). You are welcome to print out one of the forms and return it instead.

The campus will be closed for visitors from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. You will not be able to check out your child during this window. Our campus safety is our top priority as your child experiences this amazing one-in-a-lifetime event.

Please take a moment to review your contact information you have provided to the school. As we begin the processes of enrollment, Scheduling and withdrawing your students, most communications will be electronically sent to the information provided.

McKinney ISD Inclement Weather Policy

During bad weather, we make every attempt to assess the road conditions and notify staff and students as early as possible. Every effort is made to assess the road conditions and make a final decision by 5:30 a.m. Although, there have been cases where the weather worsened during the morning hours and a decision was made slightly later than the 5:30 goal.

Please keep in mind that MISD will not send out or post notification to confirm school is in session. Parents, employees and students should assume a normal school day unless notified otherwise.

The district will use several communication avenues to notify parents, students, and staff. The SchoolMessenger automated phone calling system will be utilized in the event of a delay or school closure. If you recently changed phone numbers and have not notified the district, please make certain your information is accurate by contacting the registrar at your child's campus. In addition, we will post the information on MISD's Facebook page, MISD's Twitter page and on McKinney ISD's website homepage ( We will also send out an email notification, and notify all local television and radio outlets.

Please do not rely solely on the phone call from the district. The district's Facebook and Twitter accounts are the first places information is updated. The MISD website homepage, SchoolMessenger and MISD emails are generally the second wave of communication received and television network updates are typically last (because there is often a lag time between when we send the information to them and when it is posted).

If you have internet access, the district's Facebook and Twitter accounts are the quickest, most efficient way to find information on school closings. We appreciate your support.
