Solar Eclipse Permission Form
During the school day on April 8, our teachers will bring students outside to witness the total solar eclipse. Grown-ups wanting their child to participate must complete and return the PERMISSION FORM (English Version) or (forma en español) to their 5th period teacher by April 3. Students received a paper copy in class today (Friday, March 28). Please ask to see it. It is somewhere in their bag :). You are welcome to print out one of the forms and return it instead.

The campus will be closed for visitors from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. You will not be able to check out your child during this window. Our campus safety is our top priority as your child experiences this amazing one-in-a-lifetime event.

McKinney ISD

Located in the heart of North Central Texas, McKinney Independent School District currently enrolls more than 24,500 students in 20 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, two alternative campuses and one early childhood education school.

The mission of McKinney ISD, the champion for progressive learning throughout our diverse community, is to inspire and equip all students to explore, develop and express their unique potential as innovators, critical thinkers and collaborators through challenging, engaging and diverse learning experiences in vital partnership with our community.

McKinney ISD's success can be attributed to the leadership of our elected Board of Trustees, the professional educators who work diligently to give every child the best education possible, and the support of our parents and community who value and set high standards for the children of McKinney ISD.

McKinney ISD has a long-standing reputation for educational excellence, and our district continually outperforms the region and state in all subjects and grade levels as measured by STAAR assessments. In addition, McKinney ISD SAT/ACT college entrance exam scores continue to exceed national averages.

In 2017 and 2018, McKinney ISD was named one of the Best Communities in the nation for music education. The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. The district also holds the rare distinction of having had a TMEA State Honor Choir at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels.

In the September 2014 issue of Money Magazine, McKinney ranked No. 1 on the Best Places to Live in America list. McKinney is the only Texas city in the top 10. Money editors and writers look at employment, schools, crime and safety and overall quality of life aspects to come up with the list. McKinney debuted on the Money Magazine list in 2008 at No. 14. In 2010, the city ranked as No. 5 on the list, and in 2012 McKinney was ranked the No. 2 Best Place to Live in America.

McKinney ISD has been named a "Best Place to Work" by the Dallas Business Journal, making 2019 the fourth consecutive year that the district has been recognized by the award-winning magazine.

Since 2005, McKinney ISD educators have earned a host of accolades: one Texas Teacher of the Year, five Region 10 Teachers of the Year and one Region 10 Teacher of the Year Finalist, one Texas School Nurse of the Year, one TCEA Texas LMS of the Year and Classroom Teacher of the Year, one Texas Latin Teacher of the Year, one AATG Outstanding German Educator (National Award), one Journalism Education Association National Broadcast Advisor of the Year, one Texas Computer Educators Association Texas Administrator of the Year and one TASSP Region 10 Outstanding Principal of the Year.
