Learning Commons

The McGowen Elementary Learning Commons strives to ensure that students and staff are effective evaluators, users, and communicators of ideas and information.  We believe reading is a skill that develops throughout one’s life.  It is an honor to serve our school community on the journey!

Our school library, learning commons, is a place for learners and experts to gather and engage with information, creating new understandings. This learning environment is multi-use and flexible.  On any given day, you will find individual students, small groups, and classes interacting with our diverse library collection. Our space hosts professional learning sessions and collaborative teacher-team meetings.  The open commons is a distinctive place at the heart of our school where learners of all ages interact with physical books as well as digital resources.  Whether you wish to share ideas, access information, or explore learning tools, you are welcome at the McGowen Learning Commons!
