I am so excited to be at Press Elementary! This will be my 21st year in education. I taught K, 1st, and 2nd grade before becoming a School Counselor. I’ve been a counselor for four years now and have loved helping children work through their struggles emotionally. I graduated from S.W.O.S.U. with my Bachelor of Science in Education and I went to TWU to get my Masters in Science, Counseling and Development. My husband Kevin and I have been married for 20 years. We have two children, our son Kelby who has just started college at UCA, and our daughter Kylie who is a Junior in High School.

What is a School Counselor?

As a School Counselor, I will be visiting each classroom every three weeks to present lessons designed to meet the developmental needs of the children and promote good character traits. I also meet with individuals and small groups on an as needed basis. Some of these topics include, but are not limited to, anger management, friendship, divorce/separation, study skills and grief/loss.

Character Education

Throughout the school year, students will discuss and learn about these character traits. At Press Elementary we strive to help the students become an individual with great character. Character is something that is inward and a part of who they will grow up to be!Here is the official Character Counts link:Character Counts
