Tanner Wilemon joined the McKinney High School choir program in the fall of 2019. Prior to becoming an MHS lion he most recently served as the head choir director of North Oaks Middle School in Birdville ISD. Mr. Wilemon earned his Master of Music degree in choral conducting at Texas Christian University under the instruction of Dr. Christopher Aspaas in 2017 and was awarded a Bachelors of Music Education from TCU in 2009. In his first few years of teaching, his choirs have earned multiple “sweepstakes” trophies and Superior ratings at UIL contests, including the first varsity men’s sweepstakes honors for Timber Creek (TCHS). While at TCHS, Tanner taught AP music theory and was music director for three full-scale musicals. Additionally, Mr. Wilemon co-founded the Keller ISD 5th & 6th Grade Honor Choir with Alex Carr. Mr. Wilemon was awarded the 2015 Young Director of Distinction award from the Texas Choral Director’s Association.
