Technology

Technology infrastructure and interactive learning opportunities are both key initiatives within Lawson Early Childhood School. Lawson is committed to providing opportunities for students to interact with the global community through use of technology tools such as online learning and social media.

At Lawson, we embrace technology in the classroom and acknowledge that our students are digital learners in a digital age. We are committed to following best practices for technology use and follow Bloom’s Higher Order Taxonomies when choosing technology applications.

Listed below are a few of the many ways we use technology at Lawson:

Students create digital books using iPad apps like Book Creator and Shadow Puppet.

Students explore digital content with iPads using QR codes.

Students access digital learning programs like Starfall and iStation on computers and iPads.

Students engage in retelling activities using apps like Felt Board.

Students practice fine motor and emergent reader skills using Osmo for iPads.

Students write and draw using iPads.

In the 2016-2017 school year, students will explore coding skills using Bee Bots.

If you have any questions about how technology is being used with your Lawson Sea Lion, do not hesitate to speak with your child’s teacher or Mrs. McKee, the school’s Media Resource Specialist/Librarian.
